Verizon Decides to End Two Public Cloud Services Amidst Competition

Due to the challenges of competing against other providers such as Amazon Web Services and Google, Verizon decided to stop offering two of its cloud services. Verizon will no longer be supporting its Marketplace and Verizon Public Cloud Reserved Performance offerings. A notice sent to customers by Verizon said the Virtual Private Cloud service offers “the cost effectiveness of a multi-tenant public cloud but includes added levels of configuration, control, and support capabilities…”The company warned users to switch to another service by April 12th, as after that day, any content or data on the service “will be irrecoverably deleted”. Verizon’s other cloud storage users will not be affected. (Kat Wallace,
